It’s good to be home!
Had a great time running around North America and spending lots of quality time with family and friends,
but it’s nice to finally be back in Cape Town and looking forward to some long-overdue stability.
The big sabbatical news this week was my very first dollar on Place Card Me!
After learning that, I wrote up a quick retro and
cross published it to Indie Hackers,
which then through either some miracle or some impressive insider voting ring made it to the front page of Hacker News.
Like any proud parent I took a screenshot to commemorate the occasion.
If you can squint hard enough you can see my post at #13.

- Uploaded three more designs, and I’m counting the popularity of the Indie Hackers blog as a traction effort.
It should at least help a bit with ongoing SEO.
- Shipped that first dollar post and have another thing drafted that I can hopefully ship next week.
- Tying up some loose ends for some of my smaller side projects. All mostly good, though having a devil of a time getting
Google to approve the daily hypothetical app.
- Keep getting blocked on others for these things, so haven’t been able to spend as much time freelancing than I would have liked.
Time
Was shooting for about 50/50 sabbatical vs contract work and came pretty close:
Week 23 time breakdown
Was an abbreviated week with some family time and also 30 hours of travel back to Cape Town.
Life
We’re home!
Did Wally’s cave on Lion’s Head a few hours after landing and got back in the water for the first time in way
too long this morning.
